Josh Burdon is proud to announce that he has signed with Absolute Racing for the 2018 Blancpain GT Series Asia.

The Australian Driver based in China will partner with leading gentlemen driver Anthony Liu in the teams No. 37 Audi R8 LMS GT3s commencing at this weekend’s opening round at the Sepang International Circuit.

The duo will compete in the Pro-Am class in one of three cars fielded by the team who missed out on the pan-continental championship’s title by a single point last year.

Burdon, the 2016 Asian Formula Renault Champion, is looking forward to stepping into the highly competitive GT series after narrowly missing out on his own championships last year, finishing runner-up in both Asian Le Mans Series and FRD LMP3 Series due to circumstances beyond his control.

“I am both really excited and grateful to be joining Absolute Racing for this seasons Blancpain GT Asia Series in an Audi R8 GT3,” said Burdon.

“My teammate Anthony Liu has proved to be one of the best gentlemen drivers in the region so I am excited to see what we can do together alongside team Absolute.”

“I can’t wait to get in the car this weekend for Round 1 in Sepang. Big thank you to Audi China and Absolute Racing.”

Burdon earned the drive after completing an evaluation alongside several other professional drivers through Audi China.

Absolute Racing’s team founder Ingo Matter is looking forward to the addition of the Australian driver to his team.

“We are very happy to have Josh on board at Absolute. Our strategy is always to develop strong drivers from our own junior programs. However, if someone is performing very well in our region it obviously raises our attention.” said Matter

“We have high expectations that Josh will be very competitive with Anthony and we are looking forward to the season!”
